Front Cover 3: Billboard Magazine - Miley Cyrus
This is another Billboard magazine but has a
very different look than the previous one. This magazine has a very direct
look. Almost stern this magazine cover is almost serious going against the more
happy/teen star Miley Cyrus is seen to be. She has obviously not chosen to put
any obvious expression on her face instead they have almost used an expression
that brings the reader in as it is almost a complete mirror image from one side
to another. She is holding onto a large letter M that is slightly dishevelled
and rustic and she is wearing leather gloves that go with the slightly more
grown up and risqué image they were looking to create. Midway down the M when
the photo starts to blend into the background it says ‘MILEY CYRUS’ with a tag
line of ‘The Queen of Tween Grows Up’ this links very clearly to the photo and
design they have set out as it is very striking. They have used a pastel purple
background which immediately contrasts against the image in the foreground
creating a differentiation between the two, could almost be seen as she is
leaving her cleaner cut image behind her and it coming out as her adult self.
There is also a sense that the image being created and the way the M is being
held up are based slightly around a glammed up Mug Shot. She is again placed
over the title of the magazine but the information surrounding her is very much
mirrored two. At the top there is two different pieces of information on both
sides each aligned to the side it is against with a yellow title and white
writing underneath. The same font is used throughout all the writing on the
front cover. Finally there is a + sign at the bottom of the page mirrored
against the barcode which is used as an effective way to name other artists
that will feature on this week’s chart and that will feature in this magazine.
