This is the Evaluation of my Project through a Video Format -

Complete

I now will only have to complete my Evaluation as I have completed the Magazine Making aspect of the task, I successfully made a Rough Cut and Final Music Magazine along with the School Magazine which was a helpful preliminary task. I'm happy with my progression as I started by Struggling and I've finished by in my opinion Excelling.

Double Page Spread: From Rough Cut - Final Version

The double page spread is where I made the most improvements and changes as I felt this is where I needed to make the biggest change so it would look interesting and unique. I started with switching the sides of the article and picture making it less conventional but more interesting and when the reader turns the page the first thing they will see is the photo of the artist. I then took a new photo which was taken with a wide area of background, this is so the double page spread can have an interesting background rather than just a plain colour. I edited the photo to make it look very unique and eye grabbing and I cropped it to fit the full double page. I then put overlayed boxes with opacity which went over the background so the article could fit into three columns. It's means you can still see the background but also the reticle stands out. The last thing I added was the L behind the article which was slightly transparent this was added due to it being the first name of the article. I added 2 pull out quotes in the article and 1 underneath the name of the artist and headline of the article which cuts into the article leaving the text to fall around it. Overall I am so happy with this page and thing the improvements created a strong and eye grabbing double page spread.

Contents Page: From Rough Cut - Final Version

I have made some significant changes to the contents page. I took a look at a copy of Billboard magazine so I could really concentrate on how I would like the layout of the page. The contents page is where the reader is able to see all of the information they need to know where the content is within the publication. I started by creating a list on the right hand side of all of the pages, like a full comments list making it easier to understand what is where. I then took some of the most important stories out from the menu and made bigger feature sections, giving the more important trifles (some which included pictures) more of a position on the page, this means the more important articles are what will stick in the readers mind. I used the same blue/black colour scheme with hints of red. However if I was going to do this again I would add more emphasis to the red as this is strongly used on my cover. But I am really happy with the overall design and layout.

Front Cover: From Rough Cut - Final Version

I have made nervous changes on my Front Cover from the rough cut. I started by looking at the style model of Billboard. I decided to really concentrate on the layout and colour scheme because this is what I think the rough cut lacks. The white background on the rough cut makes the front cover look blank and makes the text look scattered and sort of random looking, this is something I really needed to sort out so I have come up with a colour scheme of Red & Black for the text and have created the same design for each story I am going to promote this will link the design and magazine together on the readers mind. The picture I have changed to make sure that it grabs the readers attention and is a strong and powerful pose, this will create a memory in the readers head and will grab all possible people's attention. I have also decided to put the name of the artist who is the main feature largely in the centre of the page and in a red colour, this grabs your attention and sticks out against the pastel blue background. I am happy with all of the changes I have made and think it has made the Magazine fit the target market and be overall more strong

Future Changes

If I were going to make this again I would spend time really looking at the colour scheme I would want especially the Colour of Red as I would like to add this even more to the Contents Page and Double Page Spread, I would also spend a little more time playing around with the front cover and making sure it is the best it could be.
