Analysis of Front Cover - 2

Front Cover 2: Billboard Magazine - Carly Rae Jepsen
Carly Rae Jepsen is a youthful artist who has premiered in the USA over the past year. The magazine she is featuring on the front cover is based upon the current chart of the country. Just like the UK Top 40 the USA have the Billboard Hot 100 and this is where the magazine comes and is based from. Straight away from looking at the magazine cover the whole set out and design on the page is youthful, colourful and expressive. Obviously taking the style and vibe she sets out as an artist the company have created a very bright cover using different colours and designs. Like other magazines she is placed on top of the title quite clearly showing the artist to be the prominent figure of the page. On top of the title there is the date and website details for the magazine, this is a clever tactic as you will always be drawn to the magazine title as it is one of the few important aspects of a front cover as you are buying the brand of magazine. They use Black, Red, White and Blue as prominent colours on the page with yellow and a hint of green used inside the ‘billboard’ title especially in the ‘board’ section. Just underneath this is the name of the artist ‘Carly’ with a bright red exclamation point next to it, this also helps the name stand out against the white background. They use numerous different types of font, colours and styles to create a youthful feel that almost feels 60’s (Disco) inspired which also goes along with the outfit she is wearing which is glittery and gold making it also feel inspired like the setting and other items used.
